About Us

Fellow Egba Sons and Daughters, Friends, and Well-Wishers,
It is with deep honor and immense pride that I welcome you to the official website of the Lisabi Festival, a grand celebration of our heritage, resilience, and unity as Egba people.
The Lisabi Festival is more than a commemoration; it is a living tribute to the valor and sacrifice of Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, our revered ancestral warrior who led the fight for Egba freedom from oppression. His legacy of courage, strategic brilliance, and communal leadership inspires generations and reminds us of the power of unity in the face of adversity.
As Chair of the Lisabi Festival Organizing Committee (LFOC), I am humbled to serve alongside a dedicated team committed to preserving our cultural legacy while engaging our communities at home and in the diaspora. Each year, we are tasked with organizing a vibrant and meaningful festival and reinforcing the values that define us: integrity, tradition, family, and progress.
The Lisabi Day celebration features a rich lineup of cultural exhibitions, youth programs, royal processions, educational forums, and community projects that reflect the diverse talents and contributions of the Egba people. It is also an opportunity to reconnect with our roots, honor our ancestors, and chart a shared path for future development.
I extend heartfelt appreciation to our Royal Fathers, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Michael Aremu Adedotun Gbadebo, CFR, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, the Osile of Oke-Ona, Oba Dr. Adedapo Tejuoso, the Agura of Gbagura, the Olowu of Owu, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, for their unwavering support and wise counsel. I also thank all our partners, sponsors, traditional councils, age-grade societies, and volunteers whose commitment makes this festival a success.
To our esteemed Egba diaspora, your active participation and continued investment in cultural preservation and development efforts remain invaluable. Let us continue to build bridges between our heritage and our global impact.
May the Lisabi Festival renew in us a collective pride and a shared responsibility to uphold the dignity and progress of Egbaland.
Ẹ kú ọdún Lisabi! Ẹ kú ayẹyẹ!
